GOB (Glass on Board) technology is an advanced LED display encapsulation technique that uses glass as the encapsulation material, replacing traditional plastics or silicone. This technology can provide better heat dissipation performance, higher reliability, and a longer lifespan, especially suitable for outdoor LED displays.
The advantages of GOB LED displays include better protection performance, higher contrast and color saturation, stronger weather resistance, and a longer lifespan. Because glass is used as the encapsulation material, GOB displays are more stable in outdoor environments and can resist extreme temperatures, humidity, and ultraviolet radiation.
GOB LED displays are suitable for outdoor application scenarios that require high reliability and high protection levels, such as billboards, sports stadiums, traffic signs, and outdoor stage backdrops. Due to their excellent display effects and durability, GOB displays are very suitable for occasions with long-term and frequent use.
Due to the high reliability and long lifespan of GOB LED displays, their maintenance costs are relatively low. However, the specific maintenance costs are also affected by usage frequency, environmental conditions, and maintenance service providers.
Technical Support & Installation Engineering Guide
The Storm Plus Series is a premier solution for permanent indoor LED installations. Combining a slim-profile chassis with high-precision electronics, it is engineered for environments where space is at a premium and visual performance is critical. This guide provides the technical framework for seamless architectural integration and long-term maintenance.
1. Architectural Integration & Space Optimization
The Storm Plus is designed to be “part of the wall” rather than an attachment to it.
Ultra-Slim Profile: With a total thickness of only [Insert Depth, e.g., 45mm], the Storm Plus minimizes the protrusion from the wall, ensuring compliance with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards for public walkways and hallways.
Direct-to-Wall Mounting: Unlike traditional displays that require heavy steel sub-frames, the Storm Plus can be mounted directly onto a flat, load-bearing surface using a simplified rail or bolt system, saving up to 30% in installation depth.
Zero-Clearance Fitting: The cabinet edges are CNC-machined to a ±0.05mm tolerance, allowing for a “Zero-Gap” fit between units, which is essential for maintaining the visual continuity of 4K and 8K resolution walls.
2. Advanced Front-Service Engineering
To ensure the display remains serviceable without deconstructing the surrounding interior finish:
Vacuum Suction Maintenance: Modules are secured with high-strength magnetic latches. Using Sostron’s specialized vacuum tool, a single technician can replace a module in under 15 seconds from the front of the screen.
Integrated Power/Data Access: All internal components—including the power supply units (PSUs) and receiving cards—are accessible from the front. This eliminates the need for expensive and space-consuming “rear maintenance corridors.”
Floating Connector Technology: To prevent pixel damage during service, the internal connectors feature a self-aligning floating design that absorbs the mechanical stress of module insertion.
3. Thermal Management & Silent Operation
In corporate boardrooms and studios, noise is the enemy of productivity.
Fanless Cooling Architecture: The Storm Plus utilizes high-efficiency heat-dissipation fins integrated into the aluminum chassis. This allows for 100% silent operation (0dB), making it ideal for quiet environments like executive offices or libraries.
Natural Convection Optimization: To maximize the lifespan of the LEDs, we recommend a 20mm air gap at the top and bottom of the installation when recessed into a decorative wall to facilitate natural chimney-effect cooling.
Low-Power High-Refresh ICs: By utilizing common-cathode-like energy-saving driver ICs, the Storm Plus runs 10°C cooler than standard indoor panels, significantly reducing the “heat-on-face” effect for presenters standing close to the screen.
4. Electrical Safety & Signal Integrity
EMC Class B Compliance: The Storm Plus is engineered with internal shielding to prevent electromagnetic interference with office Wi-Fi, wireless microphones, and other sensitive communication equipment.
In-Rush Current Control: To prevent circuit breakers from tripping during startup, the Storm Plus power system includes a soft-start mechanism that staggers the load across the PDU.
Redundancy Options: For mission-critical control rooms, the series supports Dual-Power & Dual-Data backup, ensuring the display remains active even if a cable or power source fails.
5. Professional Installation Workflow
Step 1: Surface Verification: Use a digital level to ensure the mounting wall has a flatness deviation of <1.5mm per 3 meters.
Step 2: Master Cabinet Leveling: The bottom-row master cabinets must be perfectly leveled to prevent cumulative tilt across the wall.
Step 3: Sequential Calibration: Once installed, we recommend a grayscale-matching calibration to account for the ambient lighting of the room (e.g., warm office LED lights vs. natural window light).
